Logan and Scenic Rim locals are encouraged to keep an eye out for snakes, as they move to higher ground to avoid floodwaters.
It comes as a a man in his 50s was taken to Logan Hospital in a stable condition, after he sustained a suspected snake bite to the hand at a Logan Central property around 7.30pm yesterday.
Snake catcher Glenn ‘Ozzie’ Lawrence from OzCapture Snake Relocations says he has noticed an increase in snake activity, especially in more unusual places.
Mr Lawrence says snakes that normally live in low-lying areas had no choice but to move.
“Whatever lives in the low-lying areas that can become flooded, has to seek higher ground or risk being washed away with the flowing currents.
“The average snake would rather seek higher ground.
“I live on top of a mountain at Tamborine village, so I’m seeing a lot more around our house.
“There is too much water down below.”

Mr Lawrence says there is a lot of snake activity taking place around people’s homes.
Mr Lawrence urged people to be mindful of their surroundings.
“Keep an eye out around your home, close your fly screens and glass doors behind you and stay aware.”
