Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has apologised for inconveniencing parents by closing schools across Logan and the Scenic Rim after severe storms failed to occur yesterday.
“I apologise for the inconvenience,”
“I do acknowledge there has been some inconvenience today for parents but safety has to come first.”
“And at the end of the day, you can only act on the advice that you’re given and that advice given to me and to the senior management staff was that there was going to be very, very severe thunderstorms and hail yesterday.”
The Premier’s apology came after Logan and the Scenic Rim woke to mild weather conditions today after severe storms early yesterday morning caused a day of concern and confusion.
The Bureau of Meteorology’s Laura Boekel says showers and storms are now forecast for Logan and the Scenic Rim this afternoon but it’s a return to a more normal storm situation and the storms won’t be as intense or as widespread as yesterday.
