A woman has been killed in a house fire at New Beith, after allegedly dousing her ex partner and his new girlfriend with petrol and starting the blaze.
Emergency services were called to the house fire on Bidyan Boulevard, just before 3am.
The accused, a 31-year-old woman, allegedly went to the family home to confront the couple before pouring the petrol all over them.
She then allegedly set the petrol alight causing the fire to spread throughout the house with three children inside.
The accused died at the scene.
The 33-year-old man sustained burns to most of his body and his girlfriend, who suffered airway burns, were rushed to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
Three children, aged between two and five, were taken to the Queensland Children’s Hospital for observation.
Superintendent Mark White says the incident is believed to be a custody-related issue.
Superintendent White says the incident will be part of a coronial investigation.
The property has been declared a crime scene, as police investigations continue.
