Police have confirmed that yesterday’s fatal house fire at New Beith has also claimed the life of 33-year-old Stanley Obi.
Mr Obi was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital after the fire, suffering burns to most of his body.
The body of a 31-year-old woman he knew, was located inside the house.
An autopsy will be conducted to confirm her identity.
Police allege the woman broke into Mr Obi’s home, went to his bedroom, doused him and his new girlfriend with petrol and set them alight.
In the act, the woman killed herself and critically injured Mr Obi.
The three children who were in the house escaped unhurt.
The property has been declared a crime scene and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
