Organised in conjunction by Logan City Councillor Scott Bannan and the Mustang Brothers Rugby League Football Club, the match day saw local rugby league sides take each other on, raising over $11,000 for the local flood recovery effort.
Local sides such as the Jimboomba Junior Rugby League Club, Beaudesert Kingfishers, Greenbank Rugby League Football Club, Souths Sunnybank Rugby League Club and hosts Mustang Brothers Rugby League Club took to the field, all for a great cause.
Councillor Scott Bannan says the event was well supported.
Councillor Bannan says the day offered a brief reprieve for flood-impacted locals.
“It’s been a dramatic couple of weeks, so it’s given people the chance to have a day off to watch a bit of community footy.
“They were able to switch off, have a beer and watch a bit of footy, which was good.”
The event was supported by Federal Member for Wright Scott Buccholz, Federal Member for Forde Bert van Manen, State Member for Logan Linus Power, Mayor Darren Power, Deputy Mayor Jon Raven, Councillor Natalie Willcocks, Councillor Tony Hall, Councillor Mindy Russell, as well as the Logan Village Lions Club.
