Logan District Police will be hosting another Learner Driver Day on the 10th of next month to prepare young drivers for interactions with emergency service vehicles.
The track at Norwell Motorplex will once again be open to those drivers and their supervisors to practice basic driving skills in a controlled environment.
Police officers from units including the road policing command will be there to coach learner drivers on how to safely navigate their vehicles during an encounter with police on the road.
On the day, drivers will learn: how to safely give way to an emergency vehicle, how to safely pull over when being intercepted by a police vehicle and how to safely approach and stop at a roadside breath test site.
Police say many drivers don’t face these scenarios until they are on a provisional licence and driving by themselves.
This makes the first encounter stressful, and can lead to drivers placing themselves and police officers in a dangerous sit
