Police are investigating a crash that killed a motorbike rider from Mount Warren Park on the M1 this morning.
The 33-year-old man was filtering through traffic on his bike in the northbound lanes of the M1 at Shailer Park, when he collided with a car.
The impact caused the rider to be thrown from his bike into the southbound lanes of the M1.
The rider was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The fatal crash caused major traffic delays on southbound lanes, with all lanes near the incident closed.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the cause of the crash and are appealing for witnesses especially those with dashcam of the crash or the moments leading up to it to come forward.
