Upgrading the Mt Lindesay Highway in the Scenic Rim continues to be a major bone of contention with the Regional Council pushing for a bigger chunk of money to be spent on it.

In this week’s federal budget, $40 million was allocated to work on the highway even though Infrastructure Australia has identified the highway as having nationally significant capacity issues.

Mayor Greg Christensen says all that will mean is more sets of traffic lights will be installed along the roadway.

Cr Christensen questions that, suggesting there is not one other major highway that services a freight corridor in Australia where the solution is to put more traffic lights on it.
