Some relief from the heatwave we’ve been having in Logan City and the Scenic Rim could be on the way Tuesday afternoon with predictions of severe thunderstorms ahead of a cooler change.

A trough is making its way across the state and it is likely to trigger storms, particularly in the southeast region.

The Bureau of Meteorology said the area around Warwick will likely take the brunt of the conditions.

Forecasters said with any storm activity that may spring up during Tuesday afternoon, there will also be potential for damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall.
