A new $13.2 million indoor multi-purpose hall for Rochedale State High will deliver local students new, modern school facilities.
This project is part of the Queensland government’s $258 million (GST inclusive) commitment to deliver new multi-purpose halls and performing arts centres in schools across the state.
According to a spokesperson for the Department of Education, planning for the new multi-purpose hall will commence in early 2021.
“As this project is part of a four year program, the timing of commencement of this project cannot yet be confirmed,” the spokesperson said.
“The Department of Education is reviewing town planning requirements and determining the order of delivery for all of the projects in this program.”
Member for Springwood, Mick de Brenni said he was pleased to see new funding going towards another great local school.
“This means that every one of our schools in our local area will now have the very best facilities to give local kids the opportunities that come with a first class education,” he said.
“When we invest in our local schools, especially in facilities like halls, it sends an important message to students that we want them to succeed.”
The new Multi Purpose Hall will host a range of events from indoor sports, performing arts, assemblies, school discos, trivia nights, and Christmas parties, as well as being available for community use.
Education Minister Grace Grace said the funding boost was great news for the construction industry and the Queenslanders it employs.
“We always encourage our schools to engage local tradespeople to complete maintenance works and smaller jobs in schools,” she said.
