A 10 year old girl is recovering in hospital after a woman died in a motorcycle crash

Sadly, a woman has died and a 10-year-old girl was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a single motorcycle crash at Ellesmere this afternoon.

Initial inquiries indicate around 2.30pm the motorcycle was travelling on Kumbia Road when it left the roadway and struck a tree.

The rider, a 40-year-old Wyreema woman was pronounced deceased at the scene and the 10-year-old girl, a pillion passenger, was flown to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.

Forensic Crash Unit officers are investigating.
