The number of people infected with COVID-19 in Logan and the Scenic Rim has increased again since yesterday and Queensland has had its deadliest day so far with another 21 deaths across the state.
Logan now has 23,142 infections – a jump of 273 overnight, while the Scenic Rim has reached 1,211 cases – an increase of 19.
Of the deaths, two people were aged in their 60s, four in their 70s, 11 in their 80 and four in their 90s.
Four of those people weren’t vaccinated, two had received a single dose of vaccine, 13 had received two doses and only two had received a booster.
Seven of the 21 were aged care residents.
Statewide there are 8,508 new cases and 790 people hospitalized.
Forty eight of those people are in intensive care.
Chief Health Officer, Doctor John Gerrard says more than 90 percent of people who’ve died during this COVID-19 wave hadn’t received a booster.
