Repair works will soon commence on several Scenic Rim roads, that locals say are dreadful to drive on.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads will soon commence emergency road surface repair works on Boonah-Rathdowney Road and Maroon Dam Road, south of Boonah, as well as Carney’s Creek Road at Carney’s Creek.
The Member for Scenic Rim Jon Krause says the roads “took a beating” during recent rain.
“I lobbied Main Roads to have work done to deal with some of the problems.
“I will be following up to check that each of the areas needing work will have work carried out.
“To all residents, thank you for your assistance in informing me of these issues.”
Beaudesert resident Colin Howell says roads throughout the region require works.
“Roads all through the Scenic Rim, need major repairs done to them.
“The conditions of the roads will cost people’s lives.”
Works will commence tomorrow, February 15, at Boonah-Rathdowney Road and Maroon Dam Road.
These works are expected to be completed by April, weather and contractor availability permitting.
Works are to be undertaken Monday to Friday, between the hours of 7am to 4pm.
Stop/go traffic control will be in place and short delays are expected.
