Drunk motorbike rider to face court late next month

This motorbike rider is set to face court last next month after he was charged with speeding past a police car while drunk before conducting a burn-out at Slacks Creek last Saturday.

Around 10.15pm, officers were patrolling northbound on the M1 at Loganholme in an unmarked police vehicle when a motorcyclist allegedly sped past their car at 163 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a 100km/h zone before erratically changing lanes.

Police tracked the vehicle to Loganlea Road where it stopped at a red-light before conducting a burn-out and lost control.

A 41-year-old Upper Coomera man was charged with mid-range drink driving and fined for high-end speeding, wilful damage and failing to comply with the COVID-19 Public Health Direction.

The man is due to face Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday, September 24
