Finally! A Logan gang we can all support

Local, Logan community legend Lillian Stranic is helping her fellow seniors get out and enjoy the outdoors.

For many of our residents, hiking or walking groups are not an option, but for Lillian and others mobility scooters offer another way to not only socialise, but take in the great outdoors.  Mobility scooters have given this sector of the population the ability to get out and continue to be active.

TheLogan West Scooter Gang is a group of people who live in Logan West area including Boronia Heights, Forestdale, Hillcrest, Park Ridge, Heritage park, Browns Plains and Regents Park. Membership is open to all interested seniors over 55 with mobility scooters.

Lillian says the reason behind starting the group was her love of the local bushlands.

“I want people to get out into the beautiful bushlands we have here, there are plenty of animals around”

The gang meets on the third Saturday of every month at the Boronia Heights Reserve at 11am.This is a beautiful secluded bushlands park with plenty of walking (or scooting) trails.

Lillian says “it’s important to give something back to the community and leave a legacy. I have been community-minded all my life.”

Linus Power MP has been an avid supporter of the group and along with local businesses was thanked at the groups opening on Saturday.

“I’d like to thank all those that have  supported the Scooter Gang on this journey including Logan MP Linus Power, Creative Kutz Hair Salon, and My Pizza Pizza Hillcrest”

The owner of My Pizza Pizza Mick said he wanted to be involved because Lillian had always supported him and the business and involvement in the community is very important to him.

“They (the community) support us, we rely on the community and therefore want to give back”
