People power will be the driving force behind Federal election candidates pledging their support to the City of Logan’s most-needed infrastructure.

Mayor Darren Power wants City of Logan residents to use people  power to get Federal candidates to back important projects.

Logan City Council is advocating for the timely delivery of 16 projects in the lead-up to the election on Saturday May 21 to ensure liveability, economic growth and sustainability and is seeking the community’s support.

Mayor Darren Power says the ‘Stand up for Logan’ program now has a Facebook presence to encourage community conversations.

“Making sure these projects become a reality is critical as the City of Logan’s population moves towards half a million people by 2041.”

“Whether it’s upgrades to our road network, the installation of new safety cameras,  environmental programs or building essential community and leisure facilities, we

know investment from all levels of government will help us to create a liveable city that is ready for tomorrow’s opportunities.”

“I’m also advocating strongly for an Olympic venue in the city that can be repurposed  for use in the years after the games in 2032.”

Cr Power says the views of voters are powerful in getting commitments from candidates.

“It’s fine for Council to say this is what we need in Logan, but people power will really emphasise what matters most in the community.”

Cr Power urges residents to visit and like the Stand up for Logan Facebook page to  get the latest updates, and to provide comments and generate ideas.

“We also have information about the 16 projects on Council’s website so you can  become more informed about what funding is needed and why it’s important for the

city’s prosperity in the future.”
