The recently refurbished Butter Factory Cultural Precinct at Kingston will host a major event to celebrate Philippines Independence Day next month.
The free event has been organised by the Filipino Australian Brisbane Society (FABS) and it’s been named Bayanihan which means the spirit of community and mateship.
The day will include cultural and contemporary performances, food and beverage stalls, trade and information stalls, games and interactive activities and a display of artefacts from the fifth largest ethnic community in Queensland.
The current President of FABS is 45 year old mother of three, Dixie Morante.
Dixie has been serving the Filipino community since she was a girl and wants visitors to the event to become aware of how much Filipinos contribute to Queensland society.
The celebration starts at 11 am on Sunday, June the 5th and finishes at 7.00pm.
Parking in the precinct is free and you should also be able to find parking spaces at the nearby Kingston train station.
