After being inundated during last month’s floods, Waterford Cricket Club is getting the word out loud and proud that they are open and ready for business.
During the peak of the flooding activity, almost the entirety of the club’s playing fields were covered in water.
Greenbank Cricket Club President Shane Harris, who owns the lease at Waterford says that despite the dramatic helicopter shots, the club was looking forward to a quick recovery thanks to a team of volunteers that had helped to remove debris from the fields.
“We got out of it reasonably well.
“Damage is mainly to the field areas, water only came 6 inches inside the clubhouse, it looked a lot worse on Channel 9
“Now, we need to replace our synthetic pitch.
“We are a licensed club with a canteen. We basically have games every week. Just popping in and watching the game and just being part of the community is the best thing to do.”
