Logan and Scenic Rim residents warned about flash flooding

A severe weather warning remains in place for Logan and the Scenic Rim.

The areas that are expected to be most affected by thunderstorms are around Jimboomba, Boonah and Springbrook.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Helen Kirkup warns heavy to intense rainfall could lead to flash flooding today and tomorrow.

“We have seen quite a lot of rainfall and there might be some flash flooding in some of those bigger river systems.”

Ms Kirkup says more rainfall was expected to hit today and tomorrow.

“It is expected to continue with all this moisture and upper level trough making it unstable.”

“Some places could collect another 100 millimetres.”

“Tomorrow will start to slow down but rain will continue right through to Friday, seeing a burst of intense rainfall.”

“This system is not going away in south-east Queensland.”
