Logan City Council is on a mission to fix one of the City of Logan’s most troubling bottlenecks.
Solutions are being considered to unlock the potential of Goodna Road between Middle and Thompson Roads and New Beith Road between Hobury and Goodna Roads including:
- Upgrading the current road alignment on the relevant sections of Goodna Road and New Beith Road
- A new alignment bypassing Greenbank State School (directly linking New Beith Road with Middle Road and Ison Road)
The final design may incorporate elements of each option.
Resident feedback is now being sought through Council’s ‘Have Your Say’ online platform.
Infrastructure Chair Councillor Teresa Lane says, “everyone who’s done the school run or used Goodna Road during peak hour will agree that something has to be done.”
”Council wants to ensure that the community is brought along for the decision which is why we are conducting a survey to help us get a better idea of community sentiment.”
“But make no mistake, the Council is determined to find a solution to clear the way for motorists as Greenbank and surrounding suburbs continue to grow.”
Division 11 Councillor Natalie Willcocks is encouraging residents to have their say.
“Major road upgrades such as this have an impact on local communities and it’s important we get the balance right.”.
“That is why we need to hear from as many residents as possible. “Don’t be shy – make sure your voice is heard.”
As part of the engagement process a community information event will be held at Greenbank Community Centre on Saturday, May 14 from 8.30am to 12.30pm.
