The Federal Member for Rankin and Shadow Treasurer, Jim Chalmers has described last night’s budget as an act of political desperation when Australians needed a plan for the future.
Dr Chalmers says it’s a budget that doesn’t see beyond the May election and it doesn’t make up for the fact that we’ve had almost a decade now under the LIberal- National Coalition Government of attacks on wages, job security, pensions and medicare.
But he says there will be some relief from the budget for Logan residents.
Dr Chalmers thinks there may also be some short term benefits at the petrol pump for Logan residents from the 22.1 cents a lite reduction in the petrol excise.
The Shadow Treasurer says he would have delivered a budget that looked past the upcoming federal election.
