This coming Sunday (March 7) is Clean Up Australia Day and Logan City Council is 100 per cent behind this event and will be providing free bulk bins for all registered Clean Up Australia Day sites.
Council is also offering free tipping of all collected Clean Up Australia Day waste presented at any of its five Waste and Recycling Transfer Stations. This offer is open to all (registered and non-registered clean-up events).
All registered Clean Up Australia Day groups/sites are eligible for free collection and disposal of rubbish.
Logan City Councillors are invited and some will be attending Clean Up Australia Day Events. Logan City Council is hosting a clean-up site in partnership with Logan Youth Action Group.
This Clean Up Australia Day event will be held at Logan River Parklands at Beenleigh from 9am to 2pm this Sunday (March 7). The day will include a Watch out for Waste presentation, educational materials and a free sausage sizzle for participants.
Logan City Council supports Clean Up Australia Day which began 30 years ago and has now become a nationwide activity to inspire and empower communities to clean up, fix up and conserve our environment.
The event is a reminder of the importance of preventing rubbish from entering the environment and taking the time to pick up any litter.
There are more than 40 Clean Up Australia Day events listed throughout the City of Logan with locations available on the Clean Up Australia Day official website – cleanupaustraliaday.org.au
Numerous Council parks and reserves are included in the event and the community is invited to participate to help clean up the City of Logan. Locations and event times are all listed on Clean Up Australia Day’s website.
Logan City Council believes public money should be spent on improving public spaces rather than cleaning up people’s waste. It is never okay to litter and people must take responsibility for their own waste.
Council provides a range of services to keep Logan City Clean including:
• Waste and recycling collection services;
• Waste and recycling bins in public places such as parks and bus stops;
• Waste and Recycling Facilities at Beenleigh, Carbrook, Browns Plains, Logan Village and Greenbank;
• Regular litter patrols in the Logan River and other waterways;
• Regular street sweeping of roads and gutters;
• Community waste education programs;
• Compliance and enforcement of illegal dumping.
