Wednesday morning marks the return of a new school year.
Each school is different and will have its own plans in place.
Division 2 Councillor Teresa Lane says Drop off and pick ups will be safer heading into 2021 at Woodridge State School following the delivery of upgraded infrastructure over the school holidays.
“Children are the most precious resources we will have in our lives” she said on social media.
Highlights of the new carpark include a dedicated drop-off/pick up point with safe waiting pads, new fencing to stop students darting in front of moving cars and scaring parents, and two new dedicated wheelchair access parking bays with wide connector paths.
Council roads crews have ripped up the old carpark and worked over the Christmas break stopping only on the public holidays to get the job done.
Even wet weather didn’t stop their efforts to keep the project on track with officers picking up tools as soon as showers passed.
With wet weather playing havoc, half of the carpark will be ready for use on the first day of school, with the full carpark open within the fortnight after school resumes.
“The upgrade of the Woodridge State School Carpark is a great example of how ratepayers Divisional Local Infrastructure Program (LIP) funds is being spent in the community”.
