The Logan City Bears gridiron club is using their last home games of the season to raise much needed funds for autism.
Logan City Bears president Chris Bradshaw said the money will be going to AEIOU Foundation and Autism Awareness Australia.
“We have chosen these organisations as we have players and parents within our club that deal with autism every day,” he said.
“We thrive to support our players and parents as much as we can so we have decided this will be a great way to do our part.
“Autism is a developmental disorder that impairs the ability to communicate and interact. Autism also impacts the nervous system. This can cause difficulty with communication, social interactions, obsessive interests and repetitive behaviours.”
The fundraiser is running for their home games on Saturday, November 28 at the Logan City Gridiron field on Vansittart Rd, Regents Park from 11am.
“We would appreciate gold coin donations on arrival or any amount you are wanting to donate,” Mr Bradshaw said.
“You can donate at the canteen whilst purchasing items as well.
“We will be running raffles throughout the day, all the money raised will go towards those foundations in choice.
“As a part of the light it up blue for autism our Bears’ men and juniors team will always be wearing blue socks to show their support.
“We also would love for the other teams that will be playing at our field to get involved as well. If spectators or visitors would like to take part of this day, we encourage them to wear or display blue in any kind.
“We thank you for your support and we look forward to this day.”
