Logan locals urged to count koalas

Logan residents are encouraged to look up and keep an eye out for koalas in the local area this month, for the  Logan Koala Count.

During November, Logan residents are invited to upload any records, including sightings, scats and mating calls of koalas in the local area to iNaturlaist.

A joint initiative of the California Academy of Sciences and the National Geographic Society, iNaturalist is a social network of naturalists, citizen scientists, and biologists built on the concept of mapping and sharing observations of biodiversity across the globe.

Locals can participate in the count by uploading as many koala observations, including their scats and audios of their mating calls, across the entire month of November.

By uploading observations to the iNaturalist app for the Logan Koala Count 2021, participants will help create a snapshot of the species across the City of Logan.

Every community member who participates will go into the draw to win a $50 gift card, while the resident with the highest number of confirmed sightings will also win a $50 gift card.
