Two companies in Logan and the Scenic Rim are among 19 businesses across Queensland that will get state funding for recycling projects.
BlockTexx of Woodridge has been allocated $600,000 and Kalfresh of Kalbar will get $1 million from the state government as part of its $27 million investment in recycling.
BlockTexx is a clean technology company that recovers polyester and cellulose from textiles and clothing. It turns textile waste into a resource, stimulates the production of new products and meets consumers demands to reduce the environmental impact of our everyday clothing.
Kalfresh is a vertically-integrated business, focused on farming, processing and marketing fresh vegetables.
Treasurer Cameron Dick says the rationale behind the government’s investment is to divert rubbish from landfills.
He says the funding will support the creation of 303 new jobs in Queensland.
It will see more than 957,000 tonnes of rubbish diverted from landfill every year and result in $126 million in additional capital investment into the economy.
