The state government has announced that it will put on an extra 2-thousand police officers over five years, including 150 in the southeastern region which includes Logan City, Scenic Rim and the Gold Coast.

Police Minister Mark Ryan says it’s part of Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll’s plans to boost community safety.

He says it’s about preventing crime, rather than just responding to it.
