Police are investigating after a Toyota Hilux was allegedly driven into a barrier on the Esplanade at Surfers Paradise, injuring a 40-year-old man.

Police are investigating a dangerous driving incident on the Esplanade at Surfers Paradise on the evening of Friday 23 October.

Shortly before 9pm, a Toyota Hilux utility was reported to have been driven dangerously on the Esplanade before stopping near a metal barrier at the intersection with Staghorn Avenue.

The Toyota is alleged to have then been driven deliberately into the barrier, causing it to fall and injure a 40-year-old Labrador man.

The driver sustained a dog bite during the arrest. He received medical assistance at the scene before being taken to hospital for treatment. The 40-year-old man sustained minor injuries and was also taken to hospital.
