Three arrested over Lansvale shooting; WA woman charged over curry

Three people, including two 17-year-olds, were arrested after shots hit a Lansvale home, and a WA woman was charged over a curry laced with snail pellets.

Three people were taken into custody after a house in Sydney's south-west was hit by gunfire overnight, while in Western Australia a 43-year-old woman has been charged over a curry allegedly laced with poison at a workplace. Both cases were reported in the 7NEWS bulletin of 15 October.

Shots fired at Lansvale home

Police said a home on Willis Street in Lansvale was sprayed with bullets in the middle of the night. Three people were inside at the time and none was injured.

Officers stopped a car a few streets away and seized a balaclava and a firearm. They arrested three occupants: two males aged 17 and 18, and a 17-year-old girl. Police said investigations were continuing.

Woman charged over allegedly poisoned curry

In Western Australia, Armadale detectives have charged a 43-year-old woman after a curry shared at a workplace was allegedly contaminated with snail pellets.

Police allege that in February a woman brought a home-cooked curry to work to share at morning tea. They claim the accused then went to a chemical storage shed and on to the lunchroom. When the woman who had brought the curry went to eat it, she noticed granules in the food and felt numbness on her tongue.

It is alleged the two women were in a relationship. Police said testing found the pellets contained metaldehyde, a poison used to kill snails. A toxicologist told 7NEWS the compound interferes with the way nerves communicate with muscles, which can make it hard to move, at a high enough dose, to breathe.

The investigation led detectives to a house in Golden Bay, more than 30 kilometres away, where the 43-year-old was arrested and charged with endangering life. She is due to face court next month. Police said the focus of the case was not who prepared the meal but who allegedly tampered with it.

A police spokesperson said such actions could result in death or serious injury, and that they were thankful the woman who tasted the curry recognised something was wrong.

The charge is an allegation and has not been tested in court.
