Two charged over alleged Ipswich robbery and extortion
Two people have been charged over an alleged robbery and extortion at a business on Brisbane Street in Ipswich on 13 October.
Police will allege that around 10am a man and a woman entered the business and threatened a 38-year-old man before assaulting him and forcing him to the ground. The pair, who are known to the victim, then allegedly forced him to transfer money into a bank account and left in a black MG MG3.
The 38-year-old One Mile man suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police say their investigations led them to track the vehicle to a bank in Springfield the same day, where the pair were arrested as they allegedly tried to withdraw funds.
A 47-year-old Springfield Lakes woman and a 33-year-old Strathpine man have each been charged with one count of robbery and one count of extortion. They are due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on 3 November.
