Meghan Markle Joins MasterChef Australia in First Promo Clip

Promos for Meghan Markle's long-anticipated guest appearance on MasterChef Australia have landed, giving viewers their first look at the Duchess of Sussex inside one of the country's most iconic culinary competitions.

Filmed during the Sussex couple's Australian visit in April, the segment sees Meghan step into the MasterChef kitchen as a special guest, setting contestants a cooking challenge using a selection of local ingredients including macadamia nuts, citrus, Australian honey and Brussels sprouts. In one of the released clips, she chats casually with competitors about the produce, drawing a laugh from the room when she mentions her children willingly eat Brussels sprouts.

Markle, whose Netflix lifestyle series With Love, Meghan earned an Emmy nomination, appeared relaxed in front of the cameras. In the promos she described her philosophy around food, saying she prefers to cook without pressure and encouraged the competitors to "cook from the heart" and keep a sense of humour throughout the challenge.

"Food and cooking to me is really a love language," she told producers in a separate clip. "It's something that can feel sentimental and meaningful — it's how I show my nurturing and love for my friends, family, and my kids."

Behind the scenes, however, the filming was not without tension. It has been reported that one of the show's judges inadvertently introduced Markle using the word "royalty" in her opening remarks — a term that Meghan's team had specifically asked producers to avoid. According to reports, the judge, believed to be Poh Ling Yeow, was left distressed after the mishap and wanted to reach out to the Duchess directly, but was advised against doing so.

The April visit to Australia was a busy one for the Sussexes, which included stops at various community events in Queensland. The couple were photographed meeting with victims and families connected to the Bondi Junction stabbings, among other engagements.

Off-screen, media commentary has intensified around the state of Harry and Meghan's marriage. Competing briefings attributed to sources connected to each partner have drawn speculation that the couple are experiencing strain, with reports suggesting their public appearances have masked private tensions. Meghan notably arrived in the United Kingdom separately and largely out of public view during Harry's recent visit, fuelling further conjecture. Both the Duke and Duchess have made no public comment on the claims.

MasterChef Australia has not confirmed an air date for the Meghan episode, though the release of multiple promo clips suggests broadcast is imminent.
