Manchester City beat Ipswich Town 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium, with Erling Haaland scoring twice and Phil Foden netting his first goal of the season.
Foden marked his return to City's starting line-up by putting the home side in front. Jérémy Doku ran down the left and into the penalty area before sending the ball across the face of goal, and Foden finished with the side of his foot.
Ipswich equalised from their first real chance of the match. A strong challenge on a City defender let the visitors push the ball past goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, and the score was 1-1.
City regained the lead through Haaland. Mateo Kovačić held up the ball with his back to goal, moved it into the area and clipped in a cross, and Haaland headed it into the unguarded net. The Ipswich goalkeeper may have got a small touch, but it was not enough to stop it. The home crowd responded with a sea of inflatable bananas around the ground.
Haaland then added his second. He took a pass through a gap in the Ipswich defence, controlled the ball and went into the area to score, making it 3-1.
Ipswich pulled one back after the referee awarded them a penalty for a mistimed challenge on Otávio. Fleming converted from the spot to make it 3-2.
City held on to take the win.
