Berrinba motorcyclist, 40, dies after Wembley Road crash

A 40-year-old Heathwood man has died in hospital after his motorbike struck the rear of a trailer on Wembley Road, Berrinba, police say.

A 40-year-old Heathwood man has died in hospital after a motorbike crash at Berrinba on Friday, 30 October, Queensland Police Service says.

Emergency services were called to Wembley Road at approximately 4pm following reports a Yamaha motorbike had struck the rear of a trailer.

The rider, the 40-year-old Heathwood man, sustained critical injuries and was taken to hospital. He passed away there on the morning of 1 November.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the fatal crash, and inquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing.

Police say the Queensland Police Service is committed to reducing the number of lives lost on the state's roads, but enforcement alone cannot stop all dangerous driving behaviours. They say driving under the influence, speeding, driving while distracted or fatigued, or not wearing a seatbelt puts the lives of drivers and others at serious risk, and that these behaviours will not be tolerated.

Police say Queenslanders can expect to see officers anywhere, anytime, and that road safety starts with everyone.

Anyone referring to the crash should quote the reference number QP2602145629.

This report is based on information released by Queensland Police Service.
