A primary-school aged boy has been airlifted to the Queensland Children’s Hospital, after he was critically injured in a car crash, earlier today.

It’s believed he was a passenger in a car, travelling along a highway south west of Toowoomba, when it collided with a truck.

The Toowoomba-based LifeFlight Surat Gas Aeromedical Service (SGAS) helicopter was sent to the crash site just before 8am.

The pilot was able land the chopper on the road, close to the crash scene.

The aeromedical crew worked alongside paramedics from the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) to treat the boy for multiple injuries.

He was flown to hospital in a critical condition.
