Severe thunderstorm warnings are now in place for parts of southern Queensland after a drenching in some places overnight.
Warnings are current for people in parts of the Darling Downs, Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Gatton, Esk, Laidley and Lowood.
The Bureau says 72 millimetres fell in one hour at Ma Ma Creek in the Lockyer Valley early this morning. A total of 45 millimetres was recorded at Gatton in the 30 minutes, with 43 millimetres recorded at ‘Little Egypt Alert’.
Meteorologist Helen Kircup says some other towns in the region have also been drenched.
There has also been flash flooding on Toowoomba Cecil Plains Rd at Linthorpe.

On top of this Glenlyon Dam near Texas has just started to spill after more than 2000 milliliters of water washed into the dam in 24 hours.
