Springwood Park set for re-development

The first stage of the highly-anticipated Springwood Park re-development will commence after ANZAC Day.

Works will take place after ANZAC Day to minimise any disruption to the Springwood Tri-service RSL Sub-Branch’s service.

The works, valued at $1.3 million, will see the access road widened, upgraded to one way and new trees planted along the route.

Additionally the existing toilet block will be demolished and replaced with new toilets in a more accessible place near Cinderella Drive and the popular playground.

There will also be a new small and large dog off leash area with car parking and a treed amphitheatre.

Councillor Lisa Bradley says the entire community will benefit from this project.

“These works are the first step in a re-development journey that will transform the popular park.

“Once complete the park will look amazing, with improved access, parking and the public will be able to enjoy better amenities including opportunities for events in the amphitheatre.

“The timing of the works is also important to allow the RSL to plan its ANZAC Day commemorations without any interruptions.”

The Queensland Government contributed a $500,000 grant towards the project.

Additional stages of the re-development of Springwood Park will be considered in future funding rounds.
