PINK STUMPS DAY, SATURDAY 20TH
Pink Stumps Day is coming up once again on February 20th. The event is a way for cricket clubs and teams, schools and workplaces to come together and enjoy a game of cricket while raising funds for the McGrath Foundation.
Logan City Councillor Scott Bannan from Jimboomba Cricket Club says the most important part of the day is raising awareness and funds for such an important cause, that is close to his heart.
“The money is great and we finished second in the country last year, which is awesome for a small country town, but really it’s that awareness,” he said. “If we can save someone’s life, that’s better.
“My wife beat [cancer] because we got such an early diagnosis, and you can’t put a price on that.
“It’s about raising awareness, and having the people here to enjoy the night in the community, and seeing how good the cricket club is.”
The main game is scheduled to be held on Saturday, February 20th, at 7pm and is a gold coin donation to attend.
Gates will open at 4pm. There will be halftime entertainment, raffles, auctions, and more cricket.
All proceeds, donations, and sponsorships are going straight to the McGrath Foundation.

GLOBAL FOOD MARKETS, SUNDAY 21ST
The Global Food Markets, located in Woodridge, will be offering up mouthwatering dishes and fresh produce this Saturday.
The popular market opens from 6am to 12pm, and attracts hundreds each weekend.
Market Manager, Dean Khieu from The Global Food Markets in Woodridge, says The Global Food Markets are quite unique as they have a lot of fresh produce not available in your local supermarket, such as okra, bitter melon, water spinach, moqua, taro and yu choy.
“All this fresh produce comes straight from the farmer’s land and is harvested the day before to ensure its freshness every Sunday,” Mr Khieu said.
“Here at our markets is where you find those unique fresh produce to make those Asian, African, European or Islander dishes.
“Our stall holders are always more than happy to explain how to use certain fresh produce in a dish or how to cook one, and if you don’t feel like cooking we have an ethnic street food section with food from Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Burma, New Zealand, Africa and more.”
Since its opening in 2005, The Global Food Markets, which started with only five Cambodian and Islander farmers bringing their fresh produce to sell on Croydon Road every Sunday, has expanded to over 100 stall holders and holds a reputation for fresh produce at affordable prices.
