Logan’s VillageFest becomes the latest COVID-19 casualty

Logan’s own rock show, VillageFest has once again been postponed by organisers.

After a fantastic first show in 2019, headlined by Australian icons The Choirboys, Villagefest was planned as a mainstay on the Logan social calendar.

When the lineup was announced for the 2020 show there was plenty of excitement within the local community about the event.  Local favourites, Bad Neighbour and Forever Road were set to return along with up and coming act WTVR WNVR.   Shannon Noll was booked as the headline act, but as the events of 2020 unfolded it became less and less likely the show would be able to proceed in August as originally planned.

Logan Regional Chamber of Commerce, organisers of the event,  changed the date to March 2021, which quickly proved to also be impossible. Continued COVID lockdowns saw a massive impact on the show when both Forever Road and WTVR WNVR broke up, leaving the show without two of their key acts.

As the COVID situation seemed to improve a new date was secured and announced. August 28th, 2021 would see the Logan Village Green light up with the sounds of rock music once again. The lineup still featured Shannon Noll and Bad Neighbour. One of Brisbane’s hottest bands Waxflower was added to the bill along with Walken and local singer Briana Dinsdale. Posters began to appear in local shopfronts and tickets began to sell.

Everything was moving forward as planned until the recent outbreak of COVID-19 cases across the country caused widespread border closures and lockdowns, resulting in headline act Shannon Noll being unable to enter Queensland.

A spokesperson for the show says “It is a great disappointment for us to have to postpone the show again.  The show is meant to be a celebration for the people of Logan and right now we could use a bit of excitement.”

Cooper Riley, lead singer of Bad Neighbour says, “To be honest it’s pretty disappointing and borderline depressing at this point.”

The Chamber says  a new date will be announced soon, but with no clear end to border closures it is unsure when that will be.
