Just days after the celebrations of winning the NBL1 North Women’s title the Logan Thunder’s star duo, Ashley Taia and Chevannah Paalvast were boarding a plane for their next challenge. It is no small task either as they have both been selected to represent the New Zealand Tall Ferns in the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup in Jordan starting later this week.
It won’t be the most extravagant of overseas trips with COVID protocols in place meaning the girls will only be going between the hotel and the area. It is however a great opportunity for the Logan stars. The teams have been in Jordan since late last week with tournament play set to commence on the 27th of September with the Tall Ferns taking on Korea. The Australian Opals begin their campaign the next day with a game against Chinese Taipei.
Paalvast will return for the WNBL season after the tournament.
Taia will proceed from Jordan directly to Sweden for the European season as covered here
