The Federal Government has committed $2-million in funding to upgrade the Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery. The aim is to transform the current site into an exciting cultural hub.
The initiative will be funded by the ‘Building Better Regions Fund’ and the plan is to modernise and extend the facility while retaining the integrity of the original design.
The extension will provide much needed additional space for both the gallery and the Stanthorpe Library.
The Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery is widely regarded as one of Australia’s best regional galleries.
Mayor Pennisi says, “The Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery anchors the Granite Belt art experience for visitors and provides locals with a cultural and creative hub,”
“This announcement is the next step in the vision of realising and transforming Weerona Park into a dynamic arts and cultural precinct.
“Whether it’s reconnecting with literature, learning new skills, enjoying the music or engaging with the arts, it will become a destination in its own right.”
