Police are calling for motorists to use caution on roads across the Logan and Scenic Rim, as mud and debris are left behind.
As floodwaters are receding and access is again reinstated, locals have been left with a rather slippery and muddy situation.
Inspections of roads by police are revealing the true picture of what has been left behind after the floodwaters.
Not only mud but debris of varying descriptions can be located on or near roadways.
A Police Spokesperson says road users are asked to exercise caution during this time.
“Road safety remains paramount across our district.
“Workers are hard at it cleaning roads, but this will take some time due to the size of the affected areas.
“Driving through mud makes your tyres more susceptible to losing traction.
“So in the interim, motorists are urged to decrease speed in these areas and increase the distance between themselves and the vehicle in front.
Every decision you make on the road, counts.
“Your driving behaviours has a direct consequence on your life and those around you.
“Police will be doing our bit, but we need road users to do theirs too.
“Road safety is everyone’s responsibility, but that starts with you.”
