A Loganholme florist has gone above and beyond to help flood victims in Logan and New South Wales recover.
Last week, the Flower Crews Originals staff collected items such as food, water, new packets of children’s underwear ,socks, toiletries, face wipes, deodorant, towels, pencils, colouring books, nappies, fuel cards, camper cookers, gum boots, buckets and medical supplies from locals to help out Lismore families.
On Friday, staff members loaded two cars and a trailer, before delivering the items to Lismore residents on Saturday.
The store also helped out the local community in Logan, as the city was struck by the worst flood in four decades.
Flower Crews Originals owner Vanessa Parkes says it is important to help out those in need.
Ms Parkes says the store is going to continue helping those in New South Wales.
“The next few weeks there will be people helping everywhere, but then the help stops and everyone forgets, the media will stop talking about it, people will stop going and that is when it will hit them hard.
“Our company decided that we’re going to adopt a family, we can’t help everyone, but we can help one at a time.
“We connected with three families and told them that we are going to go back and visit in two to three weeks, as well as six to eight weeks.
“We’re going to start a go fund me and help them re-build the inside of their homes.”
