A home made bomb in a bucket has detonated at a Logan home leaving a man with serious injuries.
The explosion rocked Kingston at around 5.30 yesterday afternoon. It was so loud that it woke up neighbour Michael Orme.
It’s understood the 52 year old man tried to move the bucket from the front yard of his Jacaranda Avenue house when it exploded.
The improvised device contained metal, possibly a box of nails.
Police are on the scene investigating whether the man made the device himself or if someone else planted it there.
The bomb squad was called in to search the man’s home but didn’t uncover anything suspicious.
An emergency declaration was made under the Public Safety Preservation Act and was revoked around four and a half hours after the explosion.
The resident of the home is in Princess Alexandra Hospital suffering from injuries to his chest, abdomen and limbs.
Police want anyone who saw what happened to contact them.
