Treating yourself to breakfast doesn’t have to mean spending an hour at a cafe. It doesn’t have to mean outlying 20 or 30 dollars. Sometimes it’s merely the act of picking up something on the run to save yourself having to make something for yourself at home. Certain fast food restaurants have taken advantage of this over the years through the drive-through trade. However, you can still support local operators while saving yourself at the register and on the clock.
One of my personal favourites for this sort of on the go meal is “The Scoop Ice Creamery” at Marsden Park Shopping Centre. Now I know what you are thinking… “Joel! Ice Cream for breakfast!!” and to that, I would say “No, Mum not this time”
The Scoop offers a range of quick-serve breakfast fare including bacon egg rolls and fresh sandwiches. I however am a sucker for a good toastie! The balance of a great ham and cheese toastie (don’t you dare try and ruin it with tomato) is an art form worthy of an Archibald Prize.
Now I know usually at this point I would be rattling off about the amazing ambiance of the restaurant and how the natural light made me reminisce about summers in the hills of Tuscany. However due to the nature of this meal I ate it in my car… so I can safely say that the ambiance in my Honda City was lovely however the traffic on the M1 probably would lower the score slightly.
What I will say however is the lady that served me, who I assume is the owner as she is the only person that I have ever seen working there, was lovely and has always been pleasant. The service is quick and done with a smile. What more could you ask from a take-away style establishment.
According to the aforementioned Honda’s dash it was 30 degrees at 8am this morning when I rolled into the car park at Marsden so I wasn’t rushing to get a coffee. I was very keen on a milkshake and I was not disappointed. A cold Strawberry milkshake may be the real best way to start the day!
The toasted sandwich was done well and served quickly. A perfect Ham to bread to cheese ratio was achieved and for that alone The Scoop deserves to be celebrated.
The best part of the whole experience was for a regular milkshake and a ham and cheese toastie I paid $10! 10 bucks! A great start to the day.
