The owners of a caravan park at Queen Mary Falls have asked visitors to stop their children prank calling the Queensland Ambulance Service.
Queen Mary Falls Caravan Park and Cafe owners Mark and Louise Reed took to social media stating they had received a phone call from the Queensland Ambulance Service, advising they had received multiple calls from the pay phone out of the front of the cafe.
The cafe is located across the road from the well-known Queen Mary Falls in Main Range National Park, one of the region’s most visited tourist attractions.
In one instance, an ambulance was dispatched, but was turned around to attend a life-threatening incident.
The owners say parents need to supervise their children.
“Parents, if you see your children playing in the phone box, please stop them.
“Emergency services are run off their feet and don’t need to be attending prank phone calls.
“Please supervise your children so something like this doesn’t happen again, someone’s life could depend on it.”
It is against the law to call Triple Zero ‘000’ and pretend that there is an emergency.
Calling them for any reason other than an emergency situation is also a crime.
