Beenleigh Marketplace helps make 2022 a little easier for local schools, sporting and community groups

Beenleigh Marketplace is hoping to make this year a little easier for local schools, sporting and community groups through their new community grant.

The Beenleigh Marketplace Community Grant program aims to assist by providing local schools, sporting clubs or not-for-profit organisations with a $300 Beenleigh Marketplace Gift Card to groups that support, promote or keep the community active.

There is one $300 Beenleigh Marketplace Gift Card to be awarded each month.

Rachel McCabe from Beenleigh Marketplace says the local community grants initiative was established in the height of COVID-19 when lots of community groups and not-for-profit organisations were affected badly with the cancellation or postponement of large fundraising events or programs.

“Many were struggling to fund their day-to-day activities,” she says.

“It was a time when local groups were struggling but were detrimental in connecting individuals and the local community to improve mental health and wellbeing at such a difficult time for many.

“More than ever we needed to support those in our community who were experiencing hardship and Beenleigh Marketplace was proud to launch the Community grants initiative.

“All of our community grant recipients have been so appreciative, with many not believing it is true and that they have won.

“The gesture goes such a long way for many groups and the stories we hear of how it is helped makes us very lucky to be a part of such a caring community.”
