Authorities have praised the efforts of bystanders who dragged an injured pilot to safety after his light plane crashed  in Logan City on Friday afternoon.

The aircraft came down on a private property in Greenbank and caught fire after the crash.

The 24 year old suffered injuries to his chest and head….

Paramedic MARK NUGENT says the pilot could’ve suffered more injuries, if not for bystanders who stepped in.

“They dragged him away from the plane just before it caught fire” he said.

The plane was flying from New South Wales to the Archerfield Aerodrome when it crashed –

Investigators believe there was an engine malfunction,  but the cause remains a mystery.
