Charges laid after vehicle break ins at Eagleby

On Friday, August 21, Eagleby Police executed a search warrant at a Jackson Street address as a result of recent alleged break ins to vehicles. During the search, police allegedly located a quantity of evidence.

Two youths were arrested on 12 property related offences including numerous counts of burglary, unlawful entry to motor vehicles, stealing, fraud and tainted property. A 12-year-old Eagleby boy and a 14-year-old boy will face Beenleigh Children’s Court at a later date.

Two adults present during the search warrant were also charged with property and drug related charges.  A 32-year-old Eagleby man and a 31-year-old Eagleby woman will appear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on September 3.

Officer in Charge of Eagleby Police Beat, Sergeant Adam Oliphant said this was as a result of officers working quickly on information provided by community members.

“This is a good result for our hard working officers who responded swiftly to information pertaining to the offenders,” Sergeant Oliphant said.

Over the last couple of months, Eagleby has had a number of vehicles being entered overnight, whilst they have been parked in the street or driveway.

Evidence suggests a number of these vehicles have been left unlocked.

Police advise all residents to house their vehicles in a garage or ensure they are locked and no valuables are kept inside, including phones, wallets and garage remotes.

Sergeant Oliphant further advised that investigations are ongoing for other related vehicle break ins and further charges have not been ruled out.
