Confirmation today, a committal hearing will begin at the end of the month for sacked Logan City Mayor LUKE SMITH and several former Councillors on fraud charges – stemming from an investigation by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
The case relates to the events leading up to the sacking of whistleblower Chief-Executive-Officer SHARON KELSEY in 2018 with the group then facing charges in April last year.. All denied any wrong doing.
Council was eventually dissolved with Administrators being appointed until the local council elections earlier this year.
The case was briefly mentioned yesterday in the Brisbane Magistrates court.
