The Commonwealth Bank appears to be suffering its second major service outage within a week.

This afternoon the bank said it has “an issue affecting some of our merchant terminals”.

“We are currently working to fix this and apologise for the inconvenience to your afternoon,” it tweeted about 1.40pm.

Within an hour of the bank reporting the outage on Facebook today, more than 600 people had commented, many people expressing frustration that the events had caused them financial hardship.

The bank replied to another comment which stated outages were “happening far too often lately”.

“I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues – please stick with us, we’ll fix it ASAP,” said the reply from the bank’s Facebook account.

The account also told several people who commented that their businesses were impacted to “revert to manual downtime processing”.
